Trying to get Rahul Ghadhi by hook or crook is the avowed desire of the government. The shut down of the Parliament for a long period, demanding apology is unprecedented democratic approach. His success and popularity in all India movement have rattled the powers that be. The case of defamation is a curious example prolonged since 2019.
Of the three Modis mentioned, two are absconding economic offenders. Notably, none of them had filed the defamation case.
A member belonging to the community has no locus standi in the said case. It is not stated to what extent he is defamed and how the damage to reputation etc is quantified. Defamation are very difficult to be processed. It is difficult to fathom how a stranger with similar surname is defamed and to what extent.
If the sole object is to debar Rahul from electoral process, the malafide intent to contain him is indicative of party’s assessment of him being a thorn in the flesh and threat to the citadel of power.
