Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj could not be felled by the Mughals, Shahjahan & Aurangzeb, but our politicians are to blame for one of his statues that collapsed in Sindhudurg.
The least that could have been done was to ensure that the statue was installed in place with due care and caution considering the greatness of Shivaji.
All across India under the present government everything is falling from bridges to airport canopies to water towers to now statues.
Roads are collapsing or getting washed away or landslides occurring adjacent to newly built highways highlighting the shoddy approaches to construction and the hurry to show 'development'. Time for us to take stock and go slow in ensuring we build for the future and not for one term of political office.
