Colonialism has ruled India, including Goa for 450 years and it finally ended. Some days back local dailies reported that the BJP Government of Goa has taken a decision to rebuild temples destroyed by the Portuguese. Again the latest report has said that the Government has set up a panel to restore temples of Portuguese era. But all is not well and it is surprising when there is lot of development works left to be taken up the government seems to be going centuries backward to re-build temples which seems it is a preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Due to the growth of different religion communities in Goa it will be a feel good boost for the government if at taluka level temples, churches and masjids are also rebuilt in the spirit of religion and not with the essence of colonial era.
