Recalling dangers of fire crackers during Chovoth

I now live in Dona Paula but in my childhood, I lived in Portais and I often had to pass Bhatlem and go down to the Ourem road to reach my old house. After passing Bhatlem all along the road I could see people firing crackers and detonators for Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Riding a bike while crackers are detonated along the road itself is very frightening and one can lose control of the bike and meet with an accident. Then after passing the Portais chapel the situation became even worse. Rua de Ourem is in a very dilapidated condition. There is not a single area where a vehicle can move above 5 km per hour.  To my bad luck the queue for filling petrol in the area was so great that their underground  tank  was over. In the end I had to push my vehicle  by hand to search other petrol pumps in the city. After heading to my house where I now live in Dona Paula I had another bad situation again with people using bomb-like fire crackers all along the road until I reached my residence safely.
