In yesterday’s Assembly session there was a bill introduced by Viswajit Rane regarding show of hand for the election of Chairperson in municipality elections. This was necessary because Margao MLA Digamber Kamat’s candidate lost in the secret ballot elections to the Chairperson’s post.
Hence, this bill was introduced to save his skin. A similar bill maybe adopted for elections in panchyats and Zilla panchayat.
The curtailed Assembly session clearly points that the ruling party doesn’t want to face criticism of the government and doesn’t allow the Opposition to speak. This shows that this government is not of the people by the people and for the people.
