Ambedkar Jayanti, also referred to as Bhim Jayanti, is observed annually on April 14 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, widely recognised as the 'Father of the Indian Constitution'. Born in 1891, Ambedkar held pivotal roles as the principal architect of the Indian Constitution and served as the first law minister of independent India. Besides, he was esteemed as a jurist, economist, and social reformer.
Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to the elimination of discrimination against the untouchables and advocated for the rights of women and labour. Consequently, his birthday is also recognised as ‘Equality Day.’
Dr Ambedkar, popularly known as Babasaheb, was a visionary leader, social reformer, jurist, and the architect of the Indian Constitution. His contributions to the upliftment of marginalised communities and the fight against social discrimination are invaluable. He was poor but a great patriot. An important aspect of his life is that he never sought name, fame, or wealth for himself. He was a genuine dedicatory to the nation and lived on earth. This type of person is the lifeline of human beings.
