Last year, at this time, hundreds of people from Goa fell prey to the deadly ‘delta’ variant of the novel coronavirus that played havoc in the country. Those who lost the battle to the deadly virus last year are being remembered by their loved ones on their first death anniversary. It may be recalled that in April-May of 2021 there was absolute chaos. There was an acute shortage of oxygen cylinders and many died gasping for breath. It was almost impossible to find a hospital bed available with facilities for oxygen. I too was infected by the deadly virus but managed to come back from the clutches of death after being on oxygen for fifteen days. Medical experts have warned of a probable fourth wave in June-July. One only hopes that time will prove these experts wrong and the expected fourth wave will never occur.
