Arpora to Nagoa junction -- a one and half kilometre road stretch is Major District Road (MDR). This stretch of road was fully illuminated seven years ago. Of course credit goes to local MLA Michael Lobo . At present most of streetlights are out of order for a long time. By the way, one in unaware of which authority is maintaining and servicing these streetlights. But replacement of these streetlights is the need of the hour.
This route is playing important role in tourism sector as the road connects Mapusa, Anjuna, Calangute and Baga beaches beside Arpora it runs from Saligao to Panaji, and therefore this road should not remain in darkness. This area has perennial tourism. So night electrical vigilance becomes very vital to avoid accidents as the road is wide and smooth. Not only that, people feel uncomfortable and unsecure to go on the footpath on which streetlights are fixed. So the public needs those streetlights to be replaced.
