This is with reference to the report, "Business establishments to come under garbage tax net in Colva," The Goan Everyday March 27, 2023. That seems to be a good move on the part of the Colva Gram Sabha, bringing business establishments under the garbage tax net. Residents, religious & educational institutions may be exempt from this garbage tax but it is the responsibility of all to restrict generation of garbage. Garbage management is indeed, too huge a task to be managed by the authorities alone. It needs the cooperation of the general public as well. There is a need for awareness among the general public. They need to be shown how to restrict generating waste, how to reuse & recycle and that, will go a long way in waste management.
