Every year, the government collects road tax but, is the revenue generated used for the maintenance of roads? Every manifesto before election promise good roads for transportation, but the authority never keep up to their promise.
The picture is of a National Highway at Margao opposite the Housing Board. Initially, it was deep craters similar to the ones’ on moon. Then, there was a temporary solution of filling these craters with mud. With the shower of rain these craters are filled with rain water and is now a swimming pool post the monsoon. However, the fact should not be neglected that the common masses pay their taxes sincerely on time and we definitely deserve a much better road made of tar and concrete. It is not just a pothole but an entire stretch of three-five metres that is filled with rain water. During the heavy flow of traffic, the motorists find it difficult to manage their vehicle on this road.
I appeal to the concerned authority to look into the issue and make it a priority to ensure better roads atleast now before the upcoming elections.
