This is with reference to the news report ' Goa's battered roads may pose a challenging ride this year' (TGE , Oct. 28). Year after year history keeps repeating itself on Goa's badly battered roads with warnings by the Goa govt to the PWD and contractors to complete the repair works before the start of some important festivals. The photograph accompanying the above news report is just one case that testifies adequately to the pathetic condition of the road in the capital city of Panaji. There are several others in even worse condition and awaiting repair .The warnings issued to the PWD by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant before this year's Ganesh festival for completion of road repairs have unfortunately yielded no results , and we have yet to learn about the audit report and findings of the appointed agency. And with hardly any days left for Diwali, the November 5 deadline for completion of road repair work appears to be both a distant dream and a defiance of authority by the PWD.
