Congratulations to the Goa government for starting the much-needed Ro-Ro ferry boats on Goan waters. I have not yet had a chance to ride on the new ferry, but I hope to do so soon. I also hope the agency in charge will carry out regular maintenance so that these ferries can serve us for many years.
However, I am disappointed that our ministers and officials did not name these new ferries after Goan rivers. Is the government not interested in protecting Goan identity? We should use names from our own soil first. I hope the next set of Ro-Ro ferries will be given Goan river names.
