Apropos to the report "Mining debt-relief scheme gets extension of 12 mths" (The Goan Everyday, January 4, 2022). It is good that every five years assembly elections are held. That opinion polls are conducted in the days leading up to the elections. That the pre-poll surveys are conducted.
These activities give a fair idea of things to come although it is not feasible to predict the exact outcome of complex elections where apart from anti-incumbency myriad other factors play key roles. That said, the miners - reeling under the burden of debts - must welcome this one year debt relief extension.It is election time. Everybody is going home happily. Teachers, lecture basis teachers, the government employees and many others are beneficiaries of CM Dr Pramod Sawant bab's generosity of heart. A 'Big Thank You' is in order for his slew of long awaited approvals listed in the news item.
I pray that Dr Pramod Sawant bab - in his final days as Goa's CM - is able to keep his promise of pothole-free roads so that we senior citizens stop dancing dangerously while perched precariously on motor bike seats or car seats while travelling from one city to another.
