Shrimps in demand

On Friday, the fisheries department in Panaji saw a queue to buy white-legged shrimps. The shrimps were in demand as they were sold at Rs 350/- per kg. The said shrimps are cultivated as a pilot project by the fisheries department of Goa.

As Goans’ prime food is fish curry rice, many have a variety of fish in their regular lunch. The demand for shrimps was seen on Friday, with many coming early to get the taste of it. Goa is known for its quality fish, and many tourists like to taste fish in the coastal areas of Goa. The government has taken the right move to produce such shrimps as a pilot project and should continue the same to provide Goans with such variety.

Goa is also famous for its mackerel, prawns and kingfish, but white shrimps have been in demand for a long time. The fisheries department should continue with such cultivation for the benefit of Goans and tourists as well, who like to have the same in their fish curry rice.
