Former tourism minister and ex-Saligao MLA Dilip Parulekar has strongly criticised the government and current local MLA Kedar Naik over the poor state of roads in Porvorim, Sangolda, Saligao and Pilerne. Speaking to the media, Parulekar slammed the constant digging and poor repairs along the Chogm Road from O’Coqueiro junction to Sangolda and the Pilerne-Saligao road.
But why is Parulekar now suddenly speaking up about the bad roads in Saligao? It seems he wants to pressure the BJP to give him a ticket for the next assembly elections from the same constituency. By highlighting these issues, he wants to damage the image of his colleague, the former Congress and current BJP MLA Kedar Naik, and portray him as ineffective.
Why this sudden concern? Haven’t these roads been in a terrible state for over two and a half years, causing hardships and accidents for commuters? Why was Parulekar silent all this time? Why is he making noise about the roads only now?
Before trying to revive his political career by raising the issue of bad roads in Porvorim, Sangolda, Saligao and Pilerne, Parulekar should first share what real development he has brought to the area. He should also clarify how many government jobs he actually provided to the youth of his constituency when he was a powerful tourism minister and MLA.
