Life is slowly returning to its active state as before albeit under the cloud of coronavirus with the slow resumption of most economic activities.
A case in point is the rush during peak hours in Ribandar-Charao ferry boats. Social distancing, use of mask and other Covid SOPs are widely flouted.
With the number of positive cases and deaths decreasing in the State, people have once again started to take the pandemic lightly.
The government must crack the whip on defaulters and ensure heavy fines on people breaking rules of distancing and use of mask. One has to understand the seriousness of coronavirus spreading all over again.
The government cannot be blamed for the Covid crisis time and again. Charao being an island, people have no other options of transportation, but breaking the rules is unacceptable.
It's also suggested that ferry boats connecting islands to the mainland need to have periodic inspections and maintenance while there is also need to provide adequate life-saving equipment on these boats.
