Speedy passing of bills does not augur well for democracy

The Bills passed in the Assembly session with lightning speed may be because the ruling dispensation is using its brute majority in the 40-member Goa Assembly. We have never seen such moves when MGP and Congress and other parties were ruling in the State, infact they used to go for discussion on the moved bill before it was passed in the Assembly session. The reasoning may have been they would get some useful inputs from the Opposition which could be incorporated in the bills.

This system of passing of bills in a hurry is not happening in Goa alone but other BJP-ruled states and even in the Parliament which may be a real threat to democracy in the long run. The President, Governors and Speakers of the States and the Parliament should try to intervene and speak to the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and the the States Chief ministers and council of ministers  to put up for discussion the bills before passing the respective bills for the good of our democratic ser up.
