State needs Games Village more than Film City

The Goa government has commenced the process for setting up a 'Film City' in the state. The government is reportedly embarking on an ambitious project to establish a sprawling film city on 250 acres of land. Some days back the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) had issued a public notice inviting interested parties who possess a minimum of 250 acres of land.  The State's move to set up a 'Film City' project in Goa now seems to be taking shape at Loliem-Pollem in Canacona. Be that as it may, the highly anticipated National Games is barely a few days away and it is learnt that the state is in a frenzied rush to make last-minute accommodation for 10,000 athletes. A 'Games Village' in the state would have solved the problem. The country won a record number of 107 medals at the recently concluded Asian Games. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly confirmed India’s bid to host the 2036 Olympics. Goa needs to keep stride with the sports development in the country. Hence the need to establish a 'Games Village' seems more pressing than a 'Film City'.
