Apropos news report “Israeli military says troops make first ground raids into Gaza”, a heavy strike against the Palestinians is in the offing as Israel has ordered the evacuation of its civilians in northern Gaza to prepare for the ground invasion of the besieged territory. However, while doing so, Israel needs to exercise restraint in order to minimise civilian casualties. The Hamas have been claiming themselves that they are defenders of Palestinians.
Already starved of basic needs like water, electricity, food supplies, medicines they are rendered unsafe by the Israeli bombing campaign running into dropping tons of explosives and thousands of bombs, the Palestinians are being rendered homeless in their own land.
The protracted Russia-Ukraine war has already caused a global upheaval, disrupting food and energy supplies and another war of similar magnitude is likely to ruin the world at large. India’s stand in the Russia-Ukraine war has been neutral without taking any sides and PM Modi has already condemned Hamas attack on Israel. China played peacemaker between Iran and Saudi Arabia. The current conflict in West Asia is a chance for India to show its diplomatic heft.
