It is really hurting to see that what should not have happened happening on the Shiv Jayanti day in Goa. Every year on February 19 the nation remembers the visionary king who established the Maratha empire and carved a path towards swarajya (self rule) for his people. This year marks the 394th birth anniversary of Chhratrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Shivaji was a great warrior and king. Sad to see that on this special occasion some groups are creating problems every year instead of celebrating Shiv Jayanti with love and respect. Shiv premis should show respect to the statues of Shivaji that are already present in different parts of Goa. Last year the issue was in North Goa and this year the tension was in south Goa where FIRs have been registered against citizens. In the name of Shivaji Maharaj land grabbing, dividing people in the name of religion and statues are being erected without proper permissions. Some people are wanting to make it a Hindu and Christian divisive politics, make people fight among themselves while the politician rules. People of all the religions should stay united and handle the situation with care.
