Top court restores trust in democracy yet again

In yet another major ruling that can be counted as a warning shot against the attempts at systematic undermining of democracy in the country, the Supreme Court has overturned the result of Chandigarh mayoral poll which had witnessed BJP nominee being declared the winner under controversial circumstances and named AAP-Congress candidate as the winner. The shock defeat in the mayoral election was a perceived as a major setback for INDIA bloc. The development is a setback to the BJP which seems to have resorted to the fraud with the aim of subverting the alliances between the Congress and the AAP. We are living in an era where democracy is subverted by money and power. Prime Minister Narendra Modi describes India as the 'mother of all democracies' whenever abroad, but sadly his party is busy experimenting with newer versions of the idea back home. The citizens must realise the danger that is about to destroy institutions of democracy and electoral process and act with alacrity, failing we shall stand exposed in front of the world.
