Stop meddling with nature or face the consequences

This is with reference to the report, "World Bank shows interest in implementing ‘SHORE’ in Goa" - The Goan Everyday August 30, 2023. That's some great news for environmentalists. The World Bank has expressed its desire to implement its project ‘SHORE’ - Strengthening Coastal Resilience and the Economy.

According to the World Bank, the project considers an integrated approach to building coastal resilience through multi-sectoral planning, institutional strengthening and prioritized investments to reduce coastal erosion, ecosystem degradation and pollution.

On the one hand, we talk about protecting the ecosystem while on the other hand, we are destroying forest cover all across the country, destroying the livelihood of fisherfolk by ill-conceived coastal road projects (in Mumbai for instance). Incidentally, just recently there was a news report of sand dunes in Varca being damaged. I mean, whom are we fooling? It's time we stopped fooling with Nature, as the consequences would be too harsh for us to digest.
