World needs to acknowledge India is Mother of Democracy

Nobody has ever described India's ethos as eloquently as Jawaharlal Nehru in 'The discovery of India'." India is a cultural unity amidst diversity held together by strong but invisible threads. " India is a home to several hundred languages, different religions and cultures even the clothes Indians wear differ from state to state. India's eight classical dances have their own uniqueness. India has maintained it's diversity and unity despite 1,000 years of foreign rule. It is a matter of pride that no State has seceded from the Indian union. Yes, India is the mother of democracy. If there is anything that is safe in the country it is democracy. No matter which party is in power at the Centre, democracy will never decline or diminish. And it is not like present Prime minister Narendra Modi will always remain our prime minister. It is only people with vested interests who blare out that there is an attempt by Union government to rewrite history books, or that democracy is not safe in India but that is not correct. I didn't know that Anubhava Mantapa was established in the 12th century in Karnataka, which is referred to as the first Parliament of the world. Democracy took shape in India much before it found a home in other countries like Greece. It was the British who pushed a narrative that India had nothing of its own, and hushed up the country's achievements. The world, today needs to acknowledge that India is the mother of democracy. No country should even make the mistake of preaching us democratic values.
