The extraordinary general meeting of the Comunidade of Anjuna on Sunday has resolved not to allow the Sunburn electronic dance music (EDM) at Vagator on December 31. It has however decided to allow the said festival only for three days i.e. from December 28 to 30, but not on December 31 under no circumstances due to strong objections from locals of the area.
Well, it should be noted that the villagers of Anjuna-Caisua had earlier strongly opposed any move to extend the Sunburn EDM festival from three days to four days, particularly on New Year's Eve as they feared that it would result in massive traffic congestion in the coastal village. I think that the State government should come out clean over this most controversial festival called 'Sunburn' at the very earliest because the locals from Anjuna-Caisua-Vagator belt in particular need to know as to who is actually telling them the truth.. Whether it's the government or the organisers of Sunburn festival. And under whose instruction the show (despite of verbal assurances from Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo and CM Pramod Sawant) will still be allowed to go on December 31 at Vagator.
