Recently the government decided to shift the proposed IIT from Shel Melauli of Sattari taluka due to strong opposition from people and the local MLA.
This whole saga of IIT has started from Sanguem, Canacona, Cuncolim and ended in Shel Melauli without finding the location to be set up. Now, the Curchorem MLA has proposed to set up IIT in his constituency. Now it needs to be seen how the idea of setting up this project pans out in Curchorem.
But before setting up, the government should take a call from the people whether they really want IIT in the State or not. There is no point in rotating the location from place to place if Goans do not want this premier institution.
I hope the government will take all the people into confidence before taking any decision for avoiding opposition from the people.
