It is learned that private airline IndiGo has announced that it will celebrate Carnival in Goa by focusing on traditional Goan dances and in-flight announcements in Konkani. To get into the Carnival spirit, the airline will offer xacuti sandwiches for some days during the carnival celebrations in the state as part of its inflight menu. Goa’s cultural diversity and Carnival fever will be showcased by IndiGo airlines at Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad airports. It will also include local Goan dance at the airport with staff dressed in traditional Goan clothing. It must be said that such promotional activity taken by the private airlines could be the most effective way of promoting Goa as a tourist destination as it can reach more people from diverse places. Crores are spent by the state government in conducting promotional events in other states and countries to promote Goa as a tourist destination. The state government could tie-up with private airlines to carry out such promotional activities for tourism in Goa for passengers at the various airports in India and across the globe. This will be a more effective step than conducting foreign tours and promotional events in other states and countries by the authorities concerned by spending a lot of public money to promote Goa as a tourist destination.
