The MGP alliance with TMC has changed the dynamics of the latter. From the main objective of stealing Congress votes to achieving national party status, TMC is nursing its Goa ambition by riding piggyback on the MGP. MGP has staked a claim for just 12 seats -- a number for which they could go alone. Local MLAs are too inexperienced to counter the guile of outstation politicians. TMC knows its windfall and now sees a possibility of defeating the BJP. The West Bengal CM knows that the TMC’s only strength and manipulation to date have been to split the Congress votes. Here is a case of how Goans gave ultimate power to a non-entity, a party that had the potential of just splitting Congress votes and getting no seats in the bargain.
So what could be a possible scenario the elections can throw up? TMC and AAP split Congress votes, BJP comes to power. Also, in the event the MGP and TMC ride to power and form the government, will Goa be cleansed of all the past sins of the BJP or will it go from bad to worse? Goa is certainly losing the war.
