The Taliban in Afghanistan announced a government comprising extremists and even terrorists, as designated by the United Nations and the international community. The world is concerned about the affiliation and track records of most of the leaders named by the hardline Islamic group. In the current situation, Afghanistan is slowly becoming a country where there is no food, but guns are in abundance. The credit of making the Taliban a terrorist organisation largely goes to the Haqqani network. In the quest for legitimacy, the Taliban is struggling to establish relations with global powers. Most of them are known to be the proxies of Pakistan. Assets of the National Bank are frozen abroad, and no major humanitarian aid can reach the country. People are dying due to lack of medical facilities and there is a situation of utter chaos in the country. The country which has seen the bloodshed for over five decades may see another civil war. Experts have warned that Afghanistan could once again become a hotbed for terrorism while providing sanctuary for extremists.
