In the Village Panchayat of Pomburpa-Olaulim under the Aldona Constituency at Alto Palmar-Pomburpa there exists a traditional foot access (pathway) which is the only access to all the 9 residential houses on the hilly terrain since time immemorial. It falls in the Ward No. 7 and it has been serving as an inlet and outlet for the ingress and egress for the whole residents of the Ward. At 2 places it has altogether 52 steps which was built decades ago, these steps are worn-off and has no electricity lights during night journey could be beyond imagination.
The residents are regular tax-payers to the Panchayat since its inception and their main complaint is that roads have reached the mountain peak and with modernization world development seen coming up everywhere further to draw more than 10 years passed during the monsoon the middle of the access has collapsed leaving 1 metre to walk.
During every Panchayat election the aspiring candidate contesting from Ward No. 7 had promised to take up the development if they elected, after getting elected they have turn a Nelson’s eye. Even several representations made to the Village Panchayat bore no fruit. In 2011 a representation was made to the than Aldona MLA Dayanand Narvekar to take up the development works of the foot access. As Narvekar lost the assembly election and the representation was transferred to the newly elected Aldona MLA Glen Ticlo.
With nothing coming in the right direction, and the undersigned running from pillar to post followed the matter at different levels and obtain priority NOC/ letter from the current Aldona MLA and PWD Minister and produced in the office of the Asst. Engineer Div III PWD Mapusa to progress the work. As the works was to progress suddenly a letter was received from the Asst. Engineer Div III, PWD Mapusa requested to submit NOC as per Circular No. 1-8-05/SSW-P-WD/Vol 11/2019-20/497 dated 30/08/2019. All hopes of ward residents have been now pinned on the Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira to do the needful.
