With the Colorado Supreme Court ruling that Trump's name cannot be on the state’s Republican primary election ballot paper on the grounds that he engaged in an insurrection aimed at the Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021, the former US President and 2024 hopeful Donald Trump’s candidature is in hot waters. The rebellious assault on the US Capitol had disgraced the much-vaunted American democracy, where Trump allegedly resorted to brazen incitement to violence in bid to prevent the US Congress from certifying the result of the 2020 election, which he had lost to Joe Biden. However, this will not stall Trump for canvassing for 2024 Presidential elections, as similar petitions under the same law were dismissed in the states of New Hampshire, Minnesota and Michigan. President Biden’s confused foreign policy especially the handling of the Gaza crisis and the Republicans enjoying popularity with urban voters can embolden his chances for re-election.
