I recall the anti-SEZ, anti regional campaigns and even some protests against mega projects (eg Carmona) when the earlier Congress party was in power. The Congress then was forced to stop them, more so because the threat was from their own voters protesting in South Goa. With the BJP ruling since 2012, the power centre has moved to North Goa and hence the Goa BJP government appears to be not threatened by South Goa protesters and no wonder, it is arrogantly proceeding with its destructive plans; be it coal hub/corridors, mega projects, massive land conversions, hill cutting, filling of fields/water bodies and massive destruction of forests/trees/wildlife. The key request here is for North Goans to intensify their calls and put pressure on the BJP govt to stop. My wish is for North and South Goa to increase the momentum on this very urgent matter. What I saw at the anti-Bhutani Sancoale protest was hopeful signs of people from North coming down to support Goans in the South ; hope we can only take it to a higher level from here to stop the further destruction of our state.
