Unscheduled power outages in Verna


Residents of Verna have been grappling with frequent power failures, many lasting for hours. Just before the monsoons, there was a long eight-hour shutdown, cited as “annual maintenance.” 

However, despite this, the situation worsened once the rains began. Even now, towards the end of the monsoon, households continue to face multiple power cuts daily, sometimes 8-10 times, leaving schedules disrupted and residents frustrated. 

Such erratic supply raises questions of responsibility. The Assistant and Junior Engineers concerned must show accountability, or be held answerable for these repeated lapses in service. 

To add to the public’s woes, yet another four percent tariff hike is in the pipeline, burdening the common man further, without any sign of service quality improving.
