It is very heartening to see ordinary people exploring climate issues across the country including Goa where we can see lot of social activists and even some MLAs in Goa trying to protect the planet and they have taken the issue of global warming seriously. There are issues of illegal hill cutting going on in the state with protection of authorities in north as well as south Goa. If the hills are cut, the springs will run dry and our villages wells down the hills will run dry as the hills act as reservoirs of rain water which was useful during summer season. Another issue is illegal laterite stone mining causing environmental disaster and recently in Goa is the Bhutani Infra project where hill is to be cut causing deforestation and environmental destruction, soil erosion and water depletion. We should not be selfish and should care about the environment and how the world will look like in 2070 or 2100 long after most of us will be no more. We need to find suitable options to save the environment for future generations.
