Plagued by a growing number of cases of forged certificates, the police department has reportedly witnessed suspension, dismissal and even forced retirement of some men-in-khaki while some in service remain under scrutiny. This is a classic example of law keepers turning into lawbreakers. It is learnt that “some black sheep” in the department are reportedly audaciously forging certificates of government hospitals and health centres, including the signatures of Medical Officers and official rubber stamps. This seems like a deep-set malady plaguing a department to which the common citizen looks up for justice in everyday life and is a serious matter. Obviously the integrity of the law keepers in the state is at stake. It appears that the Goa Police is now addressing a longstanding issue within its ranks which reportedly extends to even high-ranking officers. The higher-ups in the department need to look into the matter and come to the bottom of the problem as the fake certificate scandal does not augur well for the men-in-uniform. It will also have a telling effect on the overall moral of other cops in the force.
