Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) officials were seen conducting inspections at the Shri Dev Bodgeshwar Zatra fair on Monday evening, taking action against some small-time food stall owners for unsanitary practices, including cooking and disposing of waste water near their makeshift kitchens. The FDA officials may be conducting such surprise raids, inspections only on certain occasions i.e. especially Christmas/New Year in all the coastal belt areas during annual village zatras, feast fairs etc to harass poor small-time food stall owners on flimsy reasons. Are all the big reputed hotels and restaurants preparing their food in hygienic conditions and selling it to their daily guests/customers or visitors in different parts of Goa? Why the FDA officials are not conducting surprise raids/inspections against their business establishments as well? Well, if the FDA officials really want to show that they mean business then they should dare to conduct such similar surprise inspections, raids in kitchens of all the big hotels, restaurants throughout the year.
