Former Calangute MLA Agnel Fernandes has accused current MLA Michael Lobo of repeatedly raising the same issues ” touts, prostitution, and illegal activities in the coastal belt ” without delivering results, alleging a political motive. Fernandes’s remarks ring true, as Lobo has been voicing these concerns for years, issuing threats but ultimately taking no decisive action.
Lobo’s latest outburst, including a threat to protest outside the Director General of Police’s office over touts harassing tourists, appears driven by frustration.
If Lobo truly wishes to prove he is a man of principle committed to cleansing Calangute of these illegal activities, he should resign from the BJP. Instead, he continues issuing half-hearted threats, targeting select ministers from his own party, and posturing as a saviour of Goa. Such theatrics only mislead voters and serve as political time-pass rather than genuine governance.
