Meghalaya Governor Satyapal Malik’s -- an appointee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi “ recent statements on Jammu and Kashmir and the Goa government has stirred a hornet’s nest.
He claimed that when he was governor of Jammu and Kashmir, he was offered a bribe to clear two files in which he named Ambani and a RSS leader.
On the BJP government in the State he caused more damage saying that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and his cabinet were corrupt.
Malik who was a Jat leader from Uttar Pradesh has created trouble in the past for the BJP in other places too. He moved to Goa in 2019, but soon developed differences with Sawant even as an annoyed Modi transferred him to Meghalaya.
It remains to be seen whether Malik’s allegations pertaining to Jammu Kashmir and the allegation of corruption against the Goa government will be investigated by the anti- corruption body.
Or will it be another case where the Centre will ease him out of the gubernatorial duties before the fires another missile against the Sawant government.
