Roads in Goa are in pathetic condition for last so years and many have fallen prey to this by accidents and getting hurt.
Roads are main source to reach any destination and same have not been in good shape. Right from Pernem to Canacona, the roads are not fit for travelling or transportation. One has to be careful every minute while driving or riding.
During monsoons, it is all the more difficult to judge the depth of potholes as they were filled with rain water.
All those who have vehicles pay road tax and it is the duty of the government to provide good roads.
The question that comes to mind is if vehicle owners can be fined for traffic violations, what stops the government from penalizing the contractor over bad roads?
Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah was in Goa and the government lost no time to spruce up the roads that he would travel on. The roads in Panaji and Taleigao were hot-mixed in no time. Do Goans have to rely on PM’s or the HM’s visit to get good roads? And what about other places?
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced that all roads in Goa will be pot-hole free by November 1. Will this be just another ‘promise’ from him? Let’s wait and watch.
