During his recent visit to Budruk Karmali village in Sattari taluka, the Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal promised to solve the land rights issues of Sattari residents within six months of coming to power.
This promise of Kejriwal is hallow and lacks any deep study. I am surprised that a former IRS Officer can make such statements to attract votes.
The fact is that land rights issues of Sattari are a complex host of issues -- Alvara, Kumeri, Forest Right cases, Mokaso Lands, etc. Even after 50 years of the enactment of the Agricultural Tenancy Act, the Tenancy cases not just continue to languish in Revenue Court, but many new tenancy cases are filed each day before the Mamlatdars and Deputy Collectors in Goa. Obviously, Tenancy Act is being used as a ploy to grab land.
Kejriwal would have to camp for at least two months in Sattari if he really wants to solve the land rights issues in Sattari taluka.
