Zuari tragedy: Time to think and drive

The Zuari tragedy where four people from Loutolim village lost their lives has left Goans shell-shocked.

Apparently, the driver lost control of the SUV, rammed the railing of the bridge and plunged into the river.

This brings to mind how fast some of our Goans drive their vehicles. We need to understand that speed thrills but it also kills.

Goans, especially out youngsters need to look at this incident as an eye opener and drive their vehicles “ two-wheelers and four-wheelers “ cautiously and avoid breaking the traffic rules and regulations which are for our own safety.

The government on its part needs to crack down on rash and drunken driving and impose heavy penalties on drivers. CCTVs should be installed at strategic locations and those who break the rules should be punished.

It’s time we understand the consequences of driving fast.
