Goa’s voters must reclaim their mandate

Ahead of the February 2027 Assembly elections, voters should take the lead in selecting candidates for Goa’s 40 constituencies. Political parties have often failed to honour promises, while defections and decisions against public interests have betrayed the people’s mandate. Voters should collectively prepare a people’s manifesto in each constituency, outlining local aspirations and priorities. These manifestos should guide governance and hold elected representatives accountable. Candidates must be chosen for their honesty, integrity and commitment to public service. Those elected should respect the people’s wishes and fulfil their promises. Past experience has left voters disillusioned with governments that prioritise vested interests over public welfare. People must unite to support trustworthy candidates who honour their commitments. This collective effort can help shape Goa according to its people’s aspirations and ensure the next government is truly of the people, by the people and for the people.
