Union Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari requires all praise and glory for the gift of the elevated corridor in Porvorim, which will go a long way to alleviate the hardships of motorists and relieve the traffic congestion on all Porvorim roads, and CHOGM Road in particular. Secondly, Gadkari’s vision for the twin Zuari bridge towers, revolving restaurant and viewing gallery is commendable and will help turn Goa into a world-class tourist destination.
In sharp contrast, what do we see at the ground level---- Nothing but potholed roads, craters and destroyed footpaths and walkways in the entire Porvorim stretch, lying unattended for the past 2 years and proving disastrous to motorists and pedestrians. The need of the hour, then, is for another person like Gadkari in Goa who will undertake the responsibility and task of repair work sincerely and diligently, and not mere lip service.
