Kudos for supporting public-interest issues

I am a regular reader of your esteemed newspaper. Occasionally, I write about social issues that come to my notice, with the hope that the concerned authorities will take appropriate corrective action. My write-up on the possibility of water scarcity was published in The Goan’s “Perspective” column on Sunday, October 4. The article was based on my observation of water leaking continuously from three water chambers in Marcel, Goa. To my pleasant surprise, following the publication of the article, the Department of Drinking Water initiated immediate action to stop the leakage. This experience has once again demonstrated the power of the pen and the important role that newspapers can play in bringing public issues to the attention of the authorities. A big thank you to The Goan for supporting public-interest issues and providing a platform for citizens to raise matters concerning the community.
