A massive fire has just occured in the North Block, which houses the offices of the Home Ministry and the Finance Ministry.The burning of files is clear destruction of evidence. Remember the old pattern? First questions were raised on EVMs, then EVMs were destroyed in a mysterious fire in Kolkata. The Rafale contract papers disappeared, it was said the papers were stolen. When you ask for accounts, the files conveniently disappear. When there is an audit, it is said the records are untraceable. When an inquiry is set up, then there is a fire. North Block is one of the most secure buildings in the country where not even a bird can enter without a pass ; how does a massive fire suddenly break out there? And the fire only where the most sensitive files are kept ? On one side is the Finance Ministry -- where files of scams worth billions, budget manipulation, and loan waivers are housed. On the other side is the Home Ministry where files of espionage, surveillance, and many buried cases are kept. This is not an accident, this is criminal destruction of evidence.
