In the Opposition the main parties are Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Goa Forward Party and the Revolutionary Goans Party that at the moment have political representation. It is of utmost importance that these Opposition parties along with the other smaller ones realize that the only way to bring about a change in guard is to unitedly fight the elections. It has been noticed in the elections held in February 2022 that the BJP had a vote share of only over 33% compared to the Opposition and the independents garnering a vote share of 66%. It is absolutely clear that a united Opposition can win the elections if they are united and have a seat-sharing agreement. The seat-sharing agreement can be worked out prudently by taking into consideration the winnability factor of the various parties in each of the 40 constituencies in Goa for the elections probably slated for January 2027. Two factors in this election have to be taken into consideration. One is the formation of the Goa Congress Party, a new party as also the case of the reservation of 4 seats for the STs, which may happen before the model conduct comes into force.
