The four-road Pirni junction, without traffic lights, is a recipe for disaster, with vehicles travelling at full speed down the slope from Panaji towards Margao and vice versa.
Vehicles also cross from the Nagoa side and from the old highway to join the bypass, leaving little scope for them to cross safely.
The authorities seem interested only in broadening the roads. But what about the flyover, which is supposedly part of the plan? Will we have to wait indefinitely for another fatality to occur before action is taken? These Kadamba EV buses, which are noiseless and very wide, should not be allowed on narrow interior village roads. Hopefully, wiser counsel will prevail at the earliest.
