I have been following the agitations and protests by Cavelossim villagers against the various illegalities and destruction in their village; including but not limited to a running protest against a prominent non-Goan company’s planned resort; where evidence clearly shows massive destruction of the beach area and sand dunes. My direct question to Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixon Vaz is as to how the panchayat under his command, had failed to note the various illegalities and instead gave permissions for this controversial resort to proceed. Why was action not proactively taken instead of forcing Cavelossim villagers to protest and then only the Sarpanch saying he will try to do something about it. I have noted Cavelossim sarpanch's attempts to get a ticket for the upcoming Goa state assembly elections including putting out his full blown images in the Colva/Benaulim area and from what I am observing he is certainly not a credible candidate for the upcoming elections.We need politicians who keep the interests of Goa, Goans and particularly our environment on top priority; and not the opposite.
