In Goa, festival seasons like Ganesh Chaturthi bring joy, but they also bring soaring prices. We saw sugar prices spike to Rs 70 per kg during the festival, and now onion prices are rising steadily. Petrol, gas cylinders, and other essentials are also becoming increasingly expensive, making life harder for the common man. The budget and pricing in Goa seem to follow market demands unchecked. Authorities have lost control over fixing fair prices as per government regulations. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) shows no courage to intervene, allowing traders to exploit people openly. It feels as if money grows on trees for those hiking prices, but for ordinary citizens, these hikes create unbearable burdens. It is high time the government and regulatory bodies step up and protect the people from such blatant exploitation.
