Benaulim beach was once the queen of South Goa beaches, but things have come to such a pass that visiting it is fraught with peril. Feral dogs all over the place, right from the parking lot to the restaurants and the sands, cattle being washed in the sea, the stench from dead fish, etc. Also, there is a large amount of garbage discarded by careless tourists right at the entrance. The least the panchayat can do is to put a couple of dustbins, emptied at suitable intervals, so that littering can be minimised. Not that it will be completely eliminated, given our poor civic sense, but a start should be made.
