The State government has reportedly decided to reopen the entry and exit points of the Porvorim elevated corridor within the next eight days only for four-wheelers, albeit with restrictions, while continuing to bar two-wheelers from using the six-lane flyover at a meeting chaired by CM Sawant on Monday. Now, why the government has still decided to bar two-wheelers from using the six-lane flyover at Porvorim? Don't the two-wheeler vehicle users pay their taxes? Well, the people who suffered the most during the construction of the flyover for the last two and half years were indeed two wheeler riders as they were forced to navigate through some congested horrible roads and face dust pollution whilst travelling from Mapusa towards Panaji via the Porvorim main road daily. I therefore feel that the government should take a serious note of the above fact and allow two-wheelers along with four-wheelers to use the six-lane flyover at Porvorim if it really intends in permanently resolving the traffic problem near both the twin Mandovi bridges and clearing all service roads below the flyover from daily heavy traffic jams.
